Osculator ableton x325/28/2023 ![]() ![]() Anyone feel free to correct my thought process if inaccurate. A couple points I'm simply jotting down to achieve with the setup. I'm thinking 16in/16out will be easier to digest, both visually and conceptually. I'm revising the setup with respect to card routings. Setup forces me to print board FX to DAW during recording, which is not great should I wish to change FX settings during mixing. My DAW template is now very large and hard for the eyes to digest - with a track representing each sound source/fx bus, and additional midi tracks.I am still juggling inputs depending on which source I want to print to the DAW.A couple caveats are causing me to refine the set-up: All sound sources active through the board, (synths and inboard/outboard FX) 32 card-ins feeding my DAW. I've currently got the scene in 32in/2out config. From the looks of your description, it'll get tight trying to map out the synth signal, internal FX signal, external FX signal, into a conveniently recallable pattern. Slipstreaming outboard effects into your context here is certainly ambitious, and very much depends on how many channels of synths you want to manage and how many outboard devices. That will help you to get your head around where things are being sent. ![]() Read and digest these two Behringer X32 forum thread entries by Craig Fowler about signal routing and 'tap points' within the X32. With that warning in place, I'll offer a couple of pieces of guidance:Įssentially you'll be leveraging the channel direct outs, Out 1-8, Out 9-16, P16 1-8, P16 9-16, elements to get post fader / post FX signals to go via Card Out to Ableton. First, let me say that most or all of what you want to do can be done, *but* it may not be the overall best way of achieving the convenient workflow that you envision. For someone new to the X32 board, it can get quite overwhelming in the early days. There's certainly a high level of ambition in your signal routing plans. Suggestions on altering workflow, or setting this up all differently is welcome too. If I happen to be sending synth channels to x32 fx busses, it would be cool to be able to capture those fx busses into ableton as wet fx tracks.Īnyone with suggestions on routing to get this done, awesome. ![]() Mixing will be done ITB within Ableton generally, but would be cool to be able to send elements through outboard fx if its possible. If I wish to print audio at any time, It's just a matter of record-enabling and hitting record. I envision a workflow where all synths are live-monitored through ableton. Hoping to also utilize Alesis midiverbII, Lexicon LXP1, old symmetrix compressor, and maybe an old behringer ultrafex I have laying around.(very likely to be even more synths/sound sources added due to GAS) currently using SD16 inputs 7,8,9,10 and 15-16 for more synths.currently using x32 inputs 1-10 for synths.I may want to send some of the x32 internal fx busses into ableton as well.I hope to have some outboard fx boxes accessible within ableton.I want to be able to record the synths as audio whenever I want, hopefully tapping the x32 inputs post-fader (so I can get the channel processing into ableton).GOAL: My idea is to have all my synths hooked up 'live' through the x32 and Ableton Live concurrently. My questions concern proper setup and routing choices - as I'll admit, the flexibility and topology of this is a bit daunting at the moment. I've just purchased a X32 rack and SD16 box for the primary purpose of acting as my new audio interface into my iMac running ableton. ![]() Seemed an appropriate place and didn't want to hijack any other threads. Hey all, please alert if this should be in another forum. ![]()
